Finding the Office
The technological institute can sometimes be difficult to navigate. The Tech Room Finder can identify the location in the building of most rooms. Some additional navigational advice is below:
Starting from the west entrance (accessible): From the main entrance, turn right and then use the stairs or elevator to arrive at the 3rd floor.
From the stairs, exit the stairwell and turn right, then take another immediate right down the hallway.
From the elevator, exit and straight down the hall on your left. Follow this hallway 10 steps until you see the double doors to the F Wing atrium on your left. Pass through the atrium and the first door on your right will be the DEEPS office, Tech 374.
Starting from the east courtyard: From the main rear entrance of the building, turn left at the first hall and continue until you see a set of stairs on your right (after the women's restroom) or the elevator (after the second women's restroom). Go to the third floor. Exit the stairs/elevator and turn right, then take another immediate right at the first hall. Continue down this very long hall until you nearly reach the end, where you will see the entrance to the F Wing on your left. Enter the wing and continue straight through the atrium to next door dead ahead. After this door, the first door on your right will be the DEEPS office, Tech 374.
Parking
Campus parking is $9/day as of Fall 2025.
Closest - There is a surface parking lot across Sheridan Rd from the Technological Institute, but space is often limited un unavailable after 9 am and before noon, and you must also have a pre-purchased hang tag in order to park as a visitor. If you have need to use this lot due to its proximity, please call ahead or email deeps@northwestern.edu to arrange assistance.
Easiest - We recommend using the North Campus Parking Garage located at 2311 N Campus Drive,
Evanston, IL 60208. As a visitor, simply collect the ticket on arrival and park. Payment is made by credit card or parking voucher on departure at the lobby kiosk on the ground floor.
Visitor parking permits are available at the kiosk at the NE corner of the Frances Searle Building (just south of the garage at 2240 Campus Drive, Evanston, IL 60208) or at the Parking Office (in the Segal Visitors Center at 1841 Sheridan Rd, Evanston, IL 60208).
Public Transportation
The Technological Institute is near several forms of public transit.
El Purple Line: The nearest stop on the Chicago CTA El Train is the Noyes stop on the Purple line. From the stop, Tech is a 0.4 miles east down Noyes Street.
Metra UP-N: The nearest Metra Rail stop is the Davis stop on the UP-N line, located 1 mile from Tech. Or, transfer from the Metra to the El's Purple line Davis stop just next door and take that train to Noyes (see above).
CTA 201 Bus: The 201 Bus conveniently travels through downtown Evanston and on Sheridan road along Northwestern's campus, with a stop located just outside Tech.
Long-Distance Travelers
The major transit hubs near Northwestern are O'Hare International Airport (ORD), Midway International Airport (MDW), and Chicago Union Station (Amtrak). See below for options for reaching the NU Technological institute from each:
O'Hare: The O'Hare Airport is a roughly 18-mile drive from the Technological Institute. The PACE 250 Bus travels from the O'Hare Multimodal Facility to the Evanston Davis CTA stop, about 1 mile from the Technological Institute and near other forms of transit that can get you closer. The El Train Blue line also has a stop at O'Hare, which connects with the rest of the El system and offers many transfer points to other trains and buses that can take you to Northwestern.
Midway: This airport is around a 26-mile drive to the Northwestern campus in Evanston. Public transit is available via an El Train Orange line stop at the airport, which connects with the rest of the El system and offers many transfer points to other trains and buses that can take you to Northwestern.
Union Station: Located in the heart of Chicago, this train station serves Amtrak trains from across the country and is a 15-mile drive from Northwestern University in Evanston. Transit is available via the nearby Metra UP-N line, which goes to the Evanston Davis stop, or the El Train Red line, which connects with the rest of the El system and offers many transfer points to other trains and buses that can take you to Northwestern.
