Chicago Field Studies (CFS)
Offered through Northwestern University, Chicago Field Studies has helped students explore the broader community of the Chicago area for over 40 years by linking academic study and practical experience through thematic concentration offerings which combine classroom and field study. The Juneau Icefield Research Program (JIRP)
The Juneau Icefield Research Program (JIRP) is an eight-week immersion in the wilderness of the Juneau Icefield, during which participants traverse from Juneau, Alaska to Atlin, British Columbia. Focuses of the program include building field skills with safety first and learning opportunities through classes and hands on experiences. Academic credit for this summer experience is offered through the University of Colorado Boulder, University of Maine, or University of Alaska Southeast.Sea Education Association (SEA) Undergraduate Programs
Sea Education Association (SEA) Undergraduate Programs are weeks to month long programs with focuses on science, environmental issues, culture and history. Based out of Woods Hole, MA, SEA programs typically involve extensive travel via ship. The programs run in fall, spring, and summer and offer academic credit through Boston University.
Semester in Environmental Science at Woods Hole
The Semester in Environmental Science at Woods Hole consists of 15-week fall semester at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA, featuring a field and laboratory-based introduction to ecosystem science and the biogeochemistry of coastal forests, freshwater ponds and estuaries. Northwestern University is considered an affiliated institution approved for receiving credit through this program.
Wasatch-Uinta Programs
The Wasatch-Uinta programs offers two distinct geoscience capstone courses. Wasatch-Uinta Field Camp is a summer residential field camp based in The Wasatch Range of Utah (6 credit-hours). The other program offered is Applied Digital Geosciences, a six-week course (3 credit-hours) delivered entirely online.Wild Rockies Field Institute
Wild Rockies Field Institute offers place-based learning experiences in the Rocky Mountains focused on the environment, climate, energy, conservation, ecology, culture, and more. Programs run in fall, spring, and summer, and academic credit is offered through the University of Montana.Williams-Mystic Coastal & Ocean Studies Program
Williams-Mystic Coastal & Ocean Studies Program is collaboration of Williams College and Mystic Seaport Museum, Williams-Mystic engages undergraduate students in a semester-long discovery of the world's oceans and coasts, accompanied by original research opportunities and travel throughout the United States. The program is based in Mystic, CT, and academic credit is offered through Williams College
Wrangell Mountain Field Studies (WMFS)
Wrangell Mountain Field Studies (WMFS) hosts an interdisciplinary field research program in subarctic landscapes, featuring high mountains, alpine tundra, boreal forest, and extensive glaciation. Based in the community of McCarthy, AK, this summer program offers academic credit through the University of Maine.
